Crawley, WA
For UWA Student Accommodation delivered by Lendlease, WA Universal supplied two COMANSA luffing tower cranes—CML165 and CML190—to support efficient vertical construction. Both cranes were established to freestand over 50m, providing stable, high-reach lifting capacity across the site. With reliable performance and coordinated site integration, the cranes have operated effectively on-site, supporting ongoing structure and material movements.
The Challenge
Student accommodation builds require steady, repeatable crane cycles to maintain momentum across formwork, reinforcement, concrete pours, and material distribution. The site needed dependable coverage at height, with cranes freestanding over 50m while remaining stable and productive in changing conditions. The project demanded equipment that could fit the programme, reduce congestion, and support safe lifting with minimal interruption to daily operations.
Our Approach
We selected a complementary pair of COMANSA luffing cranes—CML165 and CML190—to match the project’s lift demands and coverage requirements. Our team planned positions and operating parameters to suit the build sequence, coordinated with Lendlease site teams, and established clear lifting protocols for safe, consistent crane use. By aligning crane performance with construction workflows, we supported efficient progress across trades.
The Result
With two luffing cranes freestanding above 50m, the project gained reliable vertical transport capacity and consistent site coverage. The CML165 and CML190 have worked effectively in parallel, enabling structured lifting operations and supporting the project’s ongoing construction rhythm. The outcome is a stable, safe crane solution that reduces lifting constraints, improves productivity, and supports predictable delivery of materials to active work zones.
