WA Universal supported the construction of an enclosed 284 metre ore storage facility at the Port of Ashburton in Onslow, Western Australia. Located in a cyclonic Region D area, the facility included foundations, an overhead tripper conveyor and a bridge-style bucket rail-mounted reclaimer. WA Universal delivered major structural steel and mechanical installation works for the facility.
The Challenge
The project required construction support for a large enclosed storage facility in a demanding cyclonic region. The facility’s 10,000 tonne per hour inload and outload systems required robust structural and mechanical installation. WA Universal needed to manage heavy steel erection, roof rail installation and complex mechanical assemblies while maintaining safe lifting practices in a challenging regional environment.
Our Approach
WA Universal approached the works through disciplined installation sequencing, experienced rigging teams and coordinated crane operations. Structural steel erection was integrated with mechanical installation to support the facility’s tripper conveyor and reclaimer systems. The team focused on safe execution, accurate assembly and efficient coordination of rollers, pulleys, chutes and underslung roof rail components.
The Result
WA Universal installed 2,000 tonnes of structural steel and completed mechanical installation of the underslung roof rail and tripper car system. Works included assembly and installation of rollers, pulleys and chutes. The completed package supported the delivery of a high-capacity ore storage facility with 10,000 tonne per hour inload and outload material-handling capability.
