CBH, Esperance WA
WA Universal supported the construction of four 20,000 tonne S-type silos at CBH’s existing Chadwick receival site in Esperance, Western Australia. The project strengthened regional grain storage capacity through the installation of major structural, precast and mechanical components. WA Universal delivered specialist rigging, craneage and installation expertise across key elements of the silo and materials-handling infrastructure.
The Challenge
The project required the safe installation of large-scale silo infrastructure within an active receival site environment. Works involved heavy structural steel, precast perimeter walls and multiple mechanical handling components, all needing precise coordination. Maintaining installation accuracy, sequencing trades efficiently and managing lifting operations around existing site constraints were critical to supporting the construction of four high-capacity storage silos.
Our Approach
WA Universal provided an integrated structural and mechanical installation team, supported by experienced rigging and craneage capability. The works were planned around safe lifting sequences, accurate placement of steel framing and coordinated installation of precast wall panels. Mechanical components were installed progressively to align with the broader construction program and ensure interface points were managed efficiently.
The Result
WA Universal completed the installation of 200 tonnes of structural steel framing, precast perimeter walls and key mechanical items including idlers, rollers, return pulleys, head pulleys, chutes and bucket elevators. The completed works contributed to a robust grain storage facility, supporting CBH’s receival capacity and providing reliable materials-handling infrastructure for ongoing site operations in Esperance.
