Bunbury Port, WA
WA Universal contributed to the construction of a 55,000 tonne bulk spodumene storage facility at Bunbury Port. The facility incorporated inload and outload material-handling circuits designed for 500 tonnes per hour and 2,000 tonnes per hour respectively. WA Universal delivered substantial structural steel installation and mechanical alignment works across the facility’s storage and handling systems.
The Challenge
The project required the installation of extensive structural steelwork and complex mechanical handling systems within a major port environment. The storage facility’s high-capacity inload and outload circuits demanded accurate alignment and dependable installation. Coordinating roof rail systems, conveyors, pulleys, chutes and bucket elevator components required disciplined planning, specialist labour and careful sequencing to support commissioning requirements.
Our Approach
WA Universal mobilised skilled crews to install and align the structural and mechanical scope with a focus on safety, accuracy and productivity. The team coordinated the erection of steelwork with installation of mechanical items, ensuring interfaces between roof rail systems, rail car components, conveyor equipment and bucket elevator systems were managed consistently across the construction program.
The Result
WA Universal installed 800 tonnes of structural steelwork and completed mechanical installation and alignment of roof rail systems, rail car components, idlers, rollers, return and head pulleys, chutes and the bucket elevator system. The completed works supported a high-capacity bulk storage facility capable of efficient spodumene receival, storage and export handling through Bunbury Port.
